    Message:   “One Bold Step”

    Scripture Reading: Psalm 62

Everyday of our lives brings us the experience of trusting in something or someone.  Whether we await the buzzing of the alarm clock or turn the key to start our car, we trust these things will work. We trust people to fulfill their responsibilities whether in the home or workplace. This is the easy part of trust because we see these people and these things. What about trusting God? We have never seen Him and the preacher tells us each week to trust God.

David writes about his troubles in Psalm 62 and about ways he trusted God through them all. Several times he mentions that he “rests in the Lord”. Surely, he could complain to God about his circumstances, but his experience it to wait quietly before the Lord. He knows that God is in control and will work all things out. Romans 8:28

David clings to God who does not change. He is the “rock, the fortress, the mighty rock.” So many things change around us, sometimes daily, but God is the “same yesterday, today, and tomorrow”. He is steadfast, true, kind, loving, patient, peace, just, to name of few attibutes. He is there for us everyday!

David claims that nothing will “shake his faith”. We are rattled by life’s challenges and heartaches. The experiences of illness, death, or financial difficulties cause us to question our faith. David just trusts God, so ought we in our difficulties.

David encourages us to “pour out our heart to God” (vs. 8). This is passionate and purposeful prayer. Not the daily repetitions, but sincere heart wrenching prayer. This is the trust we have in God, whom we have not seen, but whose presence we experience as He walks alongside. David writes Psalm 23 with comfort, peace, and trust in God in the midst of his challenges.

Trust in God each day, no matter how difficult life may be. He hears, He sees, He cares.
